Sycamore Land Trust and Bloomingfoods to Celebrate Arbor Day

by Distributing Free Seedlings to the Public

ImageOn Friday, April 25th, from 3 to 7 pm Sycamore Land Trust (SLT) and Bloomingfoods invite the public to visit any of the three Bloomingfoods store locations and receive a free Red Oak tree seedling.

Student volunteers from Indiana University School of Public and Environmental Affairs will be available to answer questions and provide information to persons interested in supporting SLT and its mission of preserving the disappearing landscape of southern Indiana.

By picking up a tree at Bloomingfoods on Arbor Day and planting it, you can be part of SLT’s award-winning efforts, help clean the air, and help slow climate change.

SLT was honored for extraordinary environmental stewardship with a Project Award from the National Arbor Day Foundation in 2007. Since 1997, it has helped plant more than 54,000 trees. “It is organizations like Sycamore Land Trust that are truly making a difference by putting their values into thoughtful actions that will have a lasting, positive effect in the world,” said John Rosenow, President of the Arbor Day Foundation. “Every tree planted because of these people's efforts adds to the hope of a positive future for our environment.” In honor of SLT's outstanding work, the Indiana State Flag is hanging proudly at the Arbor Day headquarters for twelve months.
