Bikes for Hope March 21 and 22 at East & NWS

Hailey Butchart, a cashier at our East location, is heading up the Bikes for Hope fundraiser March 21 and 22, 2013 at our East and West stores. Come on by and lend some support to the volunteers!

Bike for Hope is an upcoming fundraiser to raise money and awareness for New Hope Family Shelter, a local homeless shelter working to serve families in Monroe County. On March 23rd, we will have stations set up at Bloomingfoods East, Bloomingfoods West, and Upland Brewery with a stationary bike and a table of information about New Hope.

From 9 am – 9 pm at Bloomingfoods and 12 – 10 pm at Upland, we need bike riders to “ride for hope,” as well as volunteers to man the tables, collect donations, and talk to people as they pass by. Our goal is to ride 3,354 miles throughout the day, representing the number of nights of shelter we provided for individuals in 2012.

If you are interested in signing up for a shift as either a bike rider or a volunteer, please e-mail Caitlin Ryan at This email address is being protected from spambots. Bike riders and volunteers are not required to make a donation to participate, but we encourage you to share this with friends and family and consider collecting pledges, sponsorships, or donations for the shift that you are riding. You might consider asking people to pledge $1 for every minute that you ride, or $5 for every mile, and so on.
