As the weather warms, try the Bock beer from Mendocino Brewing, a medium bodied, crisp beer with caramel malts
and old-world hop flavors. Also, as the weather warms, look for the return of Bell's Oberon, a summer staple. It's expected
to be out in late March.
We're also happy to have a new release from Oregon's Rogue Brewery; Dirtoir Black Lager, which features hops and
barley grown on Rogue's own micro-farm. Now that's D.I.Y.
Cheese The west store's cheese selection continues to feature the best of American cheeses as well as a few gems from
across the pond. If you haven't tried our selection of Tillamook cheddars you are in for a treat. Tillamook is a great, 100 year old,
farmer-owned dairy co-op in western Oregon comprised of 110 dairy farm families and some amazing cheese makers. Try the medium, smoked, and
garlic-chile cheddars that we stock at the west store. It's not local, but you can feel good about buying from Tillamook.
Goat cheese fans will want to note that we are now carrying the Fog Lights ripened goat cheese mini-wheels instead of the
Humbolt Fog that many already know and love. Don't worry, this is the same fantastic ash-ripened goat, just in a mini wheel.
Another great cheese from Carr Valley in Wisconsin makes it's Bloomingfoods debut. Marisa is a mellow, creamy and
sweet flavored sheep's milk cheese. It's won numerous awards including a first place award at the American Cheese Society's conference
in 2004.
If you haven't tried it yet, don't forget to stop in and pick up a piece Cougar Gold aged cheddar from Washington State Creamery.
It's getting rave reviews from the cheese regulars and supplies may dry up when WSU stops shipping with the arrival of warm weather.
