The Brewers of Indiana Guild is proud to present the Bloomington Craft Beer Fest on Saturday, June 9th, 2012 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. (VIPs and Sponsors enter at 3:00).
Indiana’s growing love affair with craft beer will be on display in a uniquely-Hoosier setting on Saturday, June 9, 2012 when the Bloomington Craft Beer Festival returns to the historic Woolery Stone Mill. Indiana brewers from around the state will be joined by a select group of out-of-state breweries. A portion of every ticket sale will benefit the American Red Cross of Monroe County. Principal Business partners include World Class Beer, Upland Brewing Company, Big Woods Brewing Company and Cassady Electric.
While other businesses are struggling to survive, the number of Indiana breweries has more than doubled in the last five years. Many credit the “buy local” movement as influencing consumers’ support of microbreweries, most of which are small, locally-owned businesses.
The Bloomington event is the newest of three festivals produced by the Brewers of Indiana Guild, a state-wide trade association representing all of Indiana’s 50-plus microbreweries. Following its debut last year, the Bloomington Craft Beer Festival is expected to be an annual event.
The festival will be held on the property surrounding the historic Woolery Stone Mill at 2200 West Tapp Road, on the southwest side of Bloomington. In addition to sampling craft beer, guests will enjoy the best that Bloomington has to offer: live music and a panoply of food from local restaurant favorites (available for purchase), in a stunning setting only Bloomington can offer. The historic Woolery Mill, now a “retired” quarry, was featured in the classic movie Breaking Away. Guests are encouraged to wear comfortable walking shoes for this unique venue.
Tickets are now available at ETIX.com. Additionally, General Admission tickets will be available beginning Thursday, May 17 at Upland, Lennie’s and Big Woods brew pubs, Bloomington Kilroy’s locations, Bloomingfoods and selected Big Red Liquors stores. General admission tickets are $35 and include admission, a commemorative tasting glass, and access to over 120 beers in 2-ounce pours.
The Brewers of Indiana Guild encourages responsible drinking. Attendees are encouraged to bring designated drivers, for whom admission is $10. Bloomingfoods will provide Designated Drivers with free upscale soft drinks and water throughout the festival. The entire venue will be limited to adults 21 and over—drinkers and designated drivers—and ID will be carefully checked for each person at the gate.
