Green Drinks Bloomington — Solar Power in Monroe County: The State of Adoption

On Wednesday, July 25 at 6pm, Terry Usrey of the Southern Indiana Renewable Energy Network (SIREN) will give an update on the ever-growing solar capacity of our community. Despite Indiana's lack of solar incentives, solar technology adoption is booming in Bloomington and Monroe County.

Usrey’s short presentation will include an assessment of why local adopters have chosen to “Go Solar.” SIREN has invited local solar installers and manufacturers to attend, and they will answer questions after the presentation.

Terry Usrey is a recently retired Senior Lecturer with the School of Public and Environmental Affairs at IU (now adjunct faculty at SPEA), co-founder of SIREN, and serves on the Monroe County Commission on Environmental Quality and Sustainability. He attempts to live a sustainable life-style on a small farm in northern Monroe County.

The Southern Indiana Renewable Energy Network (SIREN) is a project of the non-profit Center for Sustainable Living. SIREN works to study, promote, and facilitate the installation of renewable energy throughout Southern Indiana.
