Now that I've firmly established my life in Bloomington post-university, I am seeking collaborative experiences that strengthen my local involvement and awareness. This board directly reflects my belief that food is one of the most valuable tools through which we can examine, build, and maintain community.
-
I have been an owner-member for almost a year and a long-time shopper before that. Prior to this, I was a volunteer for the People's Cooperative Market in town for two years.
-
My academic extracurricular life was mostly in student government and volunteering. I have a highly creative and collaborative spirit, and I am action-oriented. I find working in such settings to be intrinsically motivating and rewarding. I enjoy interacting with different communication styles and backgrounds to achieve shared goals.
-
I have a minor in Anthropology of Food as well as a year of graduate school in the same subject. In particular, I studied food justice and globalized food systems.

I strongly believe in minimizing the distance between the production/creation of food and the consumer. Modern commercialized foodways harm the environment and the consumer through the intentional separation of food consumption from its origins. I deeply respect BCS's commitment to sustaining local food economies and honoring future generations.
-
I see the primary role of BCS as being a trustworthy provider of ethical and equitable goods.
-
I think the greatest opportunities for BCS lie in providing access to education (Ends statement #4). I think the greatest challenge is maintaining profitability with fair pricing for member-owners and fair wages for producers (Ends statement #3).

I believe my professional background in digital and print marketing, including content planning and creation, will be relevant and of use. I also have professional experience in event planning, both small and large-scale. I would love any opportunity to bring my varied skillset to the board.
