IMPORTANT NOTICE:
Unfortunately, our SNAP Double Dollars and Nutrition Made Easy Programs will be ending on Sunday, June 15th, due to the depletion of our grant funding cycle from the Indiana Department of Health (IDOH). Because the grant dispersed COVID-related money, the grant was unfortunately not available for renewal.
We understand our SNAP Double Dollars Program has been a valuable resource in the community, and we are truly saddened to see it come to a close. We are actively looking for additional resources that will enable us to continue assisting with food access and security for those in need. Though we do not anticipate being able to exactly replicate this program at this time, due in part to the pandemic-related nature of the grant funds and the general tightening of budgets we have been seeing across organizations, making grant funding less plentiful, we are looking into other ways to continue this work.
A committee of board members, owner-members, and staff has been exploring options for funding programs that similarly increase the accessibility of our food to shoppers utilizing SNAP and/or on a budget. We will be sure to keep you updated, and please feel free to reach out to the committee chair, Isabelle Daellenbach (isabelle.d@bloomingfoods.coop), with any suggestions or connections for this work.
In the meantime, we encourage shoppers who used the SNAP Double Dollars program to look into the Bloomingfoods for All program. Bloomigfoods for All is 100% funded by Bloomingfoods, not grants, and allows for Owner-Members who utilize SNAP to receive 20% off EBT-eligible items.
We encourage anyone needing SNAP resources and assistance to reach out to the Hoosier Hills Food Bank SNAP Outreach program at hhfoodbank.org/snap-outreach. Additional food and nutrition resources can also be found at findhelp.org.
If you have any questions or need further information, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at info@bloomingfoods.coop and/or isabelle.d@bloomingfoods.coop.
Everyone in our community deserves access to healthy food.
In order to help reduce the barriers to healthy food, we applied for an Indiana Department of Health grant, and with the grant funds of $583,626 we were awarded, we launched the SNAP Double Dollars Program on Tuesday, January 16th, 2024. This program will be available for two years or until the grant funds are depleted, which will be Sunday, June 15th, 2025.
Everyone is welcome at Bloomingfoods! You do not need to be a member to shop at our stores.
