This quarter in Gallery B is filled with a unique variety of art made by Bloomington-based artists that share one thing in common: they’re all staff members at Bloomingfoods Co-op Market. Every piece you will see displayed on the Gallery walls has been hand-crafted by some of Bloomingfoods’ talented and creative staff members, and we couldn’t be more excited about being able to help them share their art with the community.

Jordan Maxedon’s pieces take a break from his usual portraiture to feature flowers created with marker and ink. Douglas Rike displays an environmental project of theirs entitled “Trash: A Disrespected Planet.” Sam O’Grady’s portion of the exhibit features acrylic paintings that display his eclectic influences which range from horror movies and art films to German expressionists and post-punk movements. Ella Todd reflects on a childhood filled with trips to the Indianapolis Museum of Art that has influenced her mixed media pieces in the Gallery. Trey Schellenberg creates thoughtful mixed-media pieces as well as digital art. Tosh Lewis enjoys taking old magazines and scrap cardboard to make something new and visually interesting. Zoey Mcleod includes a selection of her ceramic works in her section of the exhibit. Jourdin Stephenson shares her paintings on both traditional and not-so-traditional canvases. Grace Richter includes a selection of her creative ceramic works in the exhibit, and Sara Deren shares a skillfully-crafted ceramic piece.

Gallery B’s Staff Exhibit artists draw from the inspiration around them to create their pieces and have each learned to express themselves in all sorts of ways. We sincerely hope that you enjoy observing the unique differences between every expression featured in the Gallery as much as we enjoy the opportunity to share them with you.
