My mission is to create a world with less suffering—for animals, people, and the earth. Our food system has the potential to create a kind and nourishing world, or continue down a destructive path. Serving on the board is an opportunity to help create a more humane food system.
-
I have been a customer/member of food cooperatives for decades in the various communities where I lived. I have always been drawn to the strong sense of community, ethics, and care that cooperatives foster. I would look forward to giving back to the BCS, and greater Bloomington community.
-
I have been part of groups since childhood: from the soccer field to my work as a social worker and facilitator of a vegan group. I enjoy the social connection and sense of accomplishment that comes with group work. Values such as patience, kindness, and mutual respect guide my work.
-
I have formal training in human development, social work, and kinesiology. This education has taught me to view the world holistically, with attention to environmental and social justice. Additionally, I recently completed the Reducetarian Foundation’s Sustainable Food Systems course, and I am currently completing T. Colin Campbell’s Plant-Based Nutrition Certificate.
-
My values—including environmental and social justice, animal protection, and health—align with BCS’s mission. I am concerned about the future of our food system, which is currently unsustainable and unethical. I appreciate BCS’s commitment to being part of the solution to build a more sustainable and just food system.
-
I view BCS as a community hub that promotes equity, justice, and compassion through food and wellness products. Initiatives like Positive Change fundraising help strengthen the health and well-being of our community, as does BCS’s commitment to sourcing from local vendors and providing climate-friendly and organic products.
-
I am excited about the opportunity for BCS to expand its role as a leader in plant-forward nutrition that benefits the environment, animals, and human health. A challenge will be helping people incorporate more plant-based foods into their lives in ways that are convenient, affordable, and enjoyable.

Thank you for your consideration. I would be honored to serve on the board of BCS.
