Masks Are Required at Bloomingfoods Starting August 5th, 2021

Dear Bloomingfoods,

Starting today, August 5th, masks are required for all staff and shoppers entering Bloomingfoods. Per the Monroe County Health Department, masks are required in indoor public spaces regardless of vaccination status anytime Monroe County is in the State of Indiana's yellow, orange, or red advisory category.

We ask that everyone please wear a mask that covers their nose and mouth while shopping in our stores. If you don't want to wear a mask or have safety concerns shopping in-store, we invite you to use our curbside pick-up service.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we continue to navigate the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Thank you for your support and cooperation.

May 2021 Face Cover Required ledgerv3.jpg

Dear Bloomingfoods,

The Monroe County Health Department recently announced that starting Monday, May 17th at 8am, masks are no longer required in most public spaces, including indoors.

We want to let you know that our store mask policy will remain in place. We ask that all of our shoppers continue to wear a mask that covers their nose and mouth for the entire duration of their shopping trip at the Co-op. If you choose not to wear a mask, we invite you to use our curbside pick-up service. Otherwise, we ask that you continue to respect our store policy and our staff by continuing to wear a mask in the store.

We will continue to review safety recommendations and metrics provided by our local and state health departments and the CDC. We will also continue to keep you informed about any changes to our policy.

Thank you for your support, patience, and cooperation.

Update - December 30th, 2020

Dear Bloomingfoods,

On Tuesday, December 29th, we were notified that an employee at our East store tested positive for COVID-19. We are grateful that they are in good condition.

Since first reporting symptoms, that employee has been quarantining while awaiting test results. Moving forward we’ll continue to follow the quarantining guidelines set forth by the CDC and the Monroe County Health Department.

All staff who were in close contact (as defined by the CDC and the Monroe County Health Department) with the employee who tested positive have been notified and will be required to quarantine per the guidelines of the CDC and the Monroe County Health Department.

We have been in contact with the Monroe County Health Department to ensure we’re taking all the appropriate steps to keep everyone safe. At this time, the health department is not recommending any additional staff or shoppers get tested or self-quarantine in response to this one positive case.

Bloomingfoods emphasizes thorough, regular cleaning and sanitization procedures. We also require everyone (i.e. staff, customers, and vendors) that visits our stores to wear proper face coverings that shield one’s mouth and nose. If you forget to bring a mask, we have them available for sale at our registers.

Additionally, we now offer a convenient online shopping / curbside pickup solution. Search for ‘Bloomingfoods’ in the Apple or Android app stores (available for phones and tablets). You can also shop online via bfoods2u.com

We are committed to maintaining an environment that is safe for our staff, customers, and owner-members. As a reminder, here are some ways we can all help each other remain safe:

  • Stay home when you’re feeling sick

  • Get tested immediately if you are displaying symptoms

  • Wear a proper face covering / mask in public

  • Try to maintain 6 feet of social distance

  • Wash hands often for at least 20 seconds

  • Target non-peak hours (8am - 10am and 7pm - 10pm)

Thank you for your continued support and patience.

Update - March 16th, 2020

COVID-19-1.png

To our Bloomingfoods Community,

To keep our community safe, we are taking the following actions:

  • Temporarily closing our self-serve salad, hot bars, and public seating areas (including East Community Room) at our East and Near West stores. Moving forward we are exploring options to include many of our offering as pre-packed, grab and go items.

  • Canceling our $3 community dinners this week (Wednesday, March 18th & Thursday, March 19th) at both our East and Near West stores. We recognize the importance of our community dinners, especially during these uncertain times, and will be evaluating ways to continue this offering in ways that are safe for the Community.

  • Postponing Wellness Wednesday: Yoga & Wellness that was to take place on March 25th

Lastly, we anticipate that there will be event cancellations, so please stay tuned for updates via Facebook,  Instagram, our Events Calendar, and Eblasts (sign up for this communication at the bottom of our website).

Take care and thank you for your understanding and trust during this difficult time!

Update - March 16th, 2020

COVID-19-1.png

To our Bloomingfoods Community,

In light of the developing information about the coronavirus (COVID-19), we want to let you know how Bloomingfoods is responding to best ensure the safety of our staff and customers. Your safety is our highest priority. As the coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to spread throughout the country, our internal emergency response team has and will continue to closely monitor guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and local health officials in our area. The team will rely on their recommendations and expertise to inform our decisions moving forward.

Based on that advice, we are:

  • Communicating and monitoring the execution of our preparedness plan with staff. This keeps in mind the health and wellbeing of both the staff and our customers, and includes such actions as:

    • Increasing the frequency of cleaning and sanitizing the register areas, sales floor, back stock areas, seating areas, and offices. You will likely notice increased disinfecting of high-touch areas around the store.

    • We have placed signage around the store (front-end and back-end) with important facts and reminders to help staff remain aware of our efforts to protect one another.

    • We are encouraging staff to stay home if they are sick. Employees will not be penalized for taking these precautions. If an employee displays symptoms indicating a respiratory illness while already at work, they will be directed to go home.

  • Ordering increased amounts of high demand items, such as non-perishable grocery items like bottled water, beans, pasta, nuts, etc. We will continue to do our best to keep the shelves stocked with the high-quality items that you are accustomed to.

What can you do?

  • We ask that our customers frequently wash and/or sanitize their hands and practice good respiratory hygiene / cough etiquette:

    • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing

    • Use the nearest waste receptacle to dispose of the tissue after use

    • Perform hand hygiene (e.g., hand washing with non-antimicrobial soap and water, alcohol-based hand rub, or antiseptic handwash) after having contact with respiratory secretions and contaminated objects/materials.

  • To stay home if you are feeling sick

  • Continue to respect, care for, and support one another

We will provide access to hand sanitizer throughout the store when it’s available to us. We encourage everyone to frequently wash their hands.

We will continue to closely monitor and quickly respond to the latest developments based on the wellbeing of the entire Bloomingfoods community.
